Many teenagers are conscious about their appearance. Our orthodontists offer Invisalign Teen® for those teenagers who are good candidates for the treatment. With Invisalign Teen® you will no longer have to worry about getting your picture taken for the yearbook, how you will look with a mouth full of brackets and wires at homecoming, and you won’t have to wonder how your braces will affect you playing your favorite sport.
What are the differences between Invisalign® and Invisalign Teen®?
While the two treatments are similar, there are a few key differences between Invisalign® and Invisalign Teen®. These features are designed to that make it easier for teenagers to have a successful treatment.
- Blue dot indicators- The aligners have small blue dots on the back of the aligners near the molars that fade away after two weeks of wear. To make sure you are wearing your aligners for the correct amount of time, the blue dots serve as visible indicators to ensure that your teeth are moving properly.
- Spaces left for new molars- If your adult molars have not grown in yet, there are spaces left in the aligners for your adult teeth to move in and have plenty of room.
- Extra aligners- Teenagers are prone to losing and breaking things. Spare aligners are provided to make sure an accident doesn’t slow down the treatment process.
Teens can continue eating their favorite foods such as potato chips, hard-crusted pizza, chewy candy and popcorn with Invisalign Teen®. You should wear your aligners for 22 hours a day, but you can take them out to eat and brush your teeth.
